The San Juan project challenges conventional thinking about residential garage design by replacing traditional overhead doors with sophisticated Lift & Slide systems. This innovative approach transforms the typical garage from a utilitarian space into an architectural feature that enhances the home's overall design aesthetic.
The installation features three distinct door sets—a commanding12-foot tall center section flanked by 8-foot tall end panels—all operating as pocketing systems that disappear completely when opened. Summit motor automation ensures effortless operation despite the substantial scale of these glass panels, creating seamless transitions between interior garage space and outdoor areas.
The engineering detail lies in the recessed sill system, where tracks are embedded directly into the concrete foundation with only minimal rail exposure visible. This approach creates clean sight lines and eliminates the visual disruption typical of surface-mounted track systems, allowing the architectural impact of the glass panels to take precedence over mechanical components.
This project demonstrates how thoughtful system selection can elevate even the most utilitarian spaces into sophisticated architectural statements.

INVISIBLE INFRASTRUCTURE
RECESSED SILL TECHNOLOGY
Advanced installation techniques embed the door tracks directly into the concrete foundation, with only minimal rail elements remaining visible at floor level. This recessed approach eliminates the visual clutter of traditional surface-mounted systems while maintaining the structural integrity required for smooth operation of these substantial automated panels.
